Emblem Objectives

This medal, bearing the name of Venerable Pope Pius XII, is Catholic Scouting's church-related ministries and vocation program which helps the candidate discover how being a Christian affects daily life in a real world. Pope Pius XII is for high school age Boy Scouts and Venturers. Scouts and male Venturers are encouraged to earn the Ad Altare Dei first. You will work with a group of 4-12 other youth and a trained counselor to earn this medal. The counselor will serve as a monitor or discussion leader. Parents interested in being a counselor for their group should contact the Committee Training Chair.

Where to Buy the Workbook

Workbooks are available at the local BSA Service Center Scout Shop (Map to Denver Area Council Store) or online at ScoutStuff.org. Contact your parish priest or youth minister to find out if your church has a supply of workbooks. At this time you should also determine if your church has a designated emblems counselor.

How to Order the Emblem

When the workbook has been completed, fill out the application in the back of the workbook (be sure to get all the required signatures) and contact your designated emblems counselor to schedule a required Board of Review through your local Catholic Committee on Scouting. The Pope Pius XII Emblem is purchased at the time of the Board of Review. The cost is $24 - please bring a check payable to DCCS to the BOR. The emblem should be awarded to each participant at the parish level after the students have completed the program.
