About the Committee
Mission Statement
The Committee is dedicated to promoting "Duty to God" at each level of Scouting. We are affiliated with the National Catholic Committee on Scouting (NCCS), an advisory to the Boy Scouts of America, National Catholic Committee on Girl Scouts USA and Camp Fire USA (NCCGSCF) which is associated with the National Federation of Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM). It supports Scouting as Catholic Youth Ministry by supporting Catholic members of BSA, Girl Scouts, American Heritage Girls, and the Federation of North-American Explorers.
Committee Structure
The Archdiocese of Denver has three active committees serving each of the three Boy Scout Councils and the geographies they represent.
The Denver Committee serves Catholic youth whose parish resides within the Greater Colorado Council of Boy Scouts. This includes the counties of Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Clear Creek, Denver, Gilpin and Jefferson Counties. This includes the traditional Districts of Centennial, Gateway, Timberline, Valley, and most of Arapahoe. Youth in Douglas and Elbert County which are part of the Greater Colorado Council (Pioneer Trails District and part of Arapahoe District) and geographically part of the Colorado Springs Diocese may choose to be served by the Denver Area Committee or the Colorado Springs Catholic Committee. Consideration for your home parish is important. There is significant cooperation between all of the committees in Colorado so that all Catholic Youth May have an opportunity to earn emblems.
The Northern Colorado Committee serves youth residing in the Adventure West Council of Boy Scouts. This includes parishes in Boulder, Jackson, Larimer, Logan, Morgan, Phillips, Sedgwick, Washington, Weld and Yuma Counties.
The Western Slope Youth are served by the Pueblo Catholic Committee on Scouting. Those parishes in Eagle, Garfield, Grand, Moffat, Pitkin, Rio Blanco, Routt and Summit Counties may be served by the Pueblo Committee due to proximity to personnel in Delta and Grand Junction. Youth in this part of the Archdiocese of Denver may also choose to correspond with the Denver committee for support if this is more convenient. This committee is also serving the youth in Archuleta, Delta, Dolores, Gunnison, Hinsdale, Mesa, Montrose, Ouray, San Juan and San Miguel counties for the Diocese of Pueblo.
