Ad Altare Dei
If you would like to help the Catholic Scouts in your troop (or neighboring troops), this is
the training for you. The AAD emblem is targeted for Scouts (boys and girls) who are
13-14 years old though older Scouts can earn this as well. The program is organized in
chapters based on the seven Sacraments. The seven Sacraments are a primary means
toward spiritual growth.
Pope Pius XII
The Pope Pius XII emblems is designed for Boy Scouts, Venturers and Sea Scouts of the
Catholic Faith who are 15-16 years of age, though the youth can earn this through
Venturing age. The program deals with different life choices (single, married, religious,
ordained), occupations and ministries in the Catholic Church as calls from God. It
includes youth-led discussions on current issues facing the Catholic Church and society,
which are normally included as part of a Pope Pius XII retreat or day of recollection. It
gives the candidate an opportunity to share faith and practice their religion among peers,
while receiving guidance and feedback.
Counselor Training
The Counselor needs to be approved in accordance with the local (Arch) diocesan guidelines and
follow all Catholic Church and BSA Youth Protection guidelines. (ie. Two-deep leadership)
The Counselor must have approval form signed by their priest.
All Religious Emblem Counselors and Facilitators must have current BSA YPT and Diocese Safe
Environment Training. The documentation must be brought to class.
Parent’s Roles
The Parents of the Scout should support the Religious Emblems Counselor in their role as the Counselor as
well as support their Scout as they share the lessons with their family.
Coffee, bottled water and bagels will be provided. You are welcome to bring your own snacks also.
